Friday in class we talked about what the essay is going to be about. Which is that it is going to be a five paragraph essay which each paragraph stating and talking about something we learned and why do you think we learned it. The essay should be easy. I am writing mine over the weekend so that I have something to look off of and study before the test.

Thursday, December 12, 2013

Today in class we talked about the final and what everything is going to be on the final. It seems fairly easy. Just you have to know the 5 key topics we went over this past year and you have to wright an essay on each topic that we did which should be fairly easy.  Just go to study and hope for the best.

Today in class we went over the test and went through all the answers I did okay on the test. I messed up on a couple questions and they were just stupid mistakes I could’ve gotten a hundred. For the rest of the time in class which was like eleven minutes we talked about Nelson Mandala who seems to me is the type of man that makes the world be a better place. He is the guy that you would want someone to look up to instead of some Lil Wayne. He went to jail for something he believed in kind of like John McCain. John was a prisoner of war but he did it because he loves AMERICA.

Friday in class we took the test on micro finance, kiva, and all that good stuff. I liked this unit because I am a really big fan on like economics and like trying to run and solve problems which we kind of did in the game we played earlier in the unit. That’s something I would really to pressure a career in. I would like to take companies that are not doing so well and then take them over and run them till they get on top again then sell it and move on to the next one. I think it sounds fun.

Today in class we took the first half of class taking pictures and holding an Emmy. Ya no big deal I kind of held an Emmy. Then for the rest of class we played the peace corps game which was kind of fun I guess but I think I would want to learn more about economics for modern America and how to survive in the business world.

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

Today in class we went over the test that we took last week. And let me tell you I did horrible and I mean horrible. I messed up on stupid stuff like not even reading the question properly I read the wrong word and though it was something different. It just really shows me that I just ran through this test with the little time I had I just rushed right through the test with the little time that I had. It was probably a test that I should have passed with flying colors but I didn't because I just read the test all wrong.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

Today in class we got back our results of the world leaders test and let me tell you I am really really not happy with what I got I thought I would have done better but I guess I didn't. Hopefully we can have an assignment that will really pull up my grade. But then for the rest of class we were really just told to look at the links that you posted on your blog. Which had to do with the Peace Corps and micro finance. Microfinance is when us as Americans help out and figure out what to do to help people in poverty in developing countries that are small business owners. I actually think this is a very good idea because I fell in America small business owners are the backbone of this nation they are the ones who make this country run an I am very for small time business with supporting them and shopping from them. So I think that if we help out small business owners in other countries that those other countries will have more of a kick start to a better nation. I think that would not only help out the countries but it will also look very good on the American aspect. We should try to finish what John F. Kennedy started, but first we need to fix some problems in our own country. We fix ourselves and our country then we work on the world it can be done. We could help other countries that don’t have clean water by having a big time company like deer park just send a good amount of bottled water to those countries or we could help their hospitals and medical staff so they can work more for malaria and it would be cheaper for the people that cannot afford it so they would be able to afford it.

How the most of the leaders we are learning about revolted against their government when they were an adolescent. How Abdallah fathered 22 children. How he is worth 22 billion dollars.

Friday in class we took the test. Which I thought I knew what was going to be on the test but I guess I didn't. So Monday I will retake it for a better grade.

Friday, November 1, 2013

On Thursday i forgot to blog. but in class we had a fire alarm and i left early for my football game.

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

Today in class we presented our religions which my group’s religion was on Buddhism. Which is more than a practice then a religion itself because you can be a part of other religions while being Buddhist. The other religions that presented were Christianity and Muslim. Christianity was kind of a gimmie I mean it is a very easy religion for me to know because I am a Christian. Now muslim was a little bit harder but still knew. I knew that they had to pray at least five times a day every day, and the ones that take it a little bit more seriously do it the same time every day.

Friday, October 25, 2013

Today in class we took our quiz which I thought was pretty easy. There was only like one question that I had a little bit of trouble with but rather than that it was pretty easy. Then we broke up into small groups which we were all given a five major religion which my group had Buddhism. During class we had dogs come through the academic wing searching for only God knows what. I was kind of glad they came so it kind of shows that they are keeping it safe at JC. So ya class was kind of short and we did not take any notes.
God Bless America

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO6W9vZl5pM
Today in class we had Jasmine teach the class we did a review of what we have learnt from the past couple of days. That nationalism is when you think your country is number one. The video we watched today which I have seen previously but I just think it is such an amazing video.  We aren’t the best country we don’t have the best science and math programs and we don’t even have a government that can come to terms on something. We used to be a great country, like they said in the video the American way is to stand up for what is right. I mean I thought the American dream is to come here and work to get a job to make money that’s why most people came over during the 20’s and 30’s. Now it seems like people are thinking the American dream is to sit home without a job and have the government give them what they need that they don’t need a job. BUT NO THAT’S NOT IT WE ARE AMERICANS I AM TIRED OF OTHER COUNTRIES THINKING WE JUST OVER WEIGHT NO GOOD DEAD BEATS. WE NEED TO SHOW THE WORLD AGAIN THAT WE ARE AMERICA WE FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT. What I personally think we need is a blue collar, conservative American as president. I think we need to cut back on funding that doesn’t need to fund. I thought McCain would have been a great choice for president because he truly loved his country he fought in war he was a prisoner of war. I think Romney would have actually made America what it should have been. I think he would of cut back spending and I personally think he would have been pretty good. I was very mad that the president tried to kind of cover up the 2012 Benghazi attack of the American embassy. I say they attack us then we should march right in there and give them a boot in their rear end. If you mess with America or our people you deserve to be taught your lesson.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ruNrdmjcNTc

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Today in class we talked a lot of still more cultural differences and I am still as strong as ever on saying that America is probably one of the most diverse countries because we want some many different people to come here. LAND OF OPPORTUNITY. We talked about how Texas wanted to become its own country which I completely thought was bogus. C’mon Texas you are a big part of America what would we do without some good ole Texas football (best football is down south). I just think that countries now really should just stay the way they are there is no need really for any more controversies. I mean we now have groups so if anyone tries to pull a Hitler more than likely all nations would come together to get the world back to peace. Also we talked about oil and fresh water and I think if we ever run low on fresh water I would be very scared it would kind of show a weakness and that the world would be in kind of a crisis mode same thing with oil.

Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Today in class we talked about the different things that can separate regions and culture. We talked about how people in different part of America call soda different things like in the northwest area such as Chicago they call it pop, but in the southern states they call in cola even though it might not be coke a cola. In the east and west they call it soda. In some states they call it fizzy. We talked about how many different nations have many different cultures. I thought that America would be an excellent example because there are so many different types of ethnic backgrounds in America and so many different religions that make up this great land of the U.S.A

Thursday, October 10, 2013

Today in class we went over everything that will be on the test tomorrow. Which will be stuff like crude birth rate, and crude death rate. Stuff that we went over in the population pyramids. That most developed countries are like a box with a steady population and countries that are still developing are like a cup that it is more with younger population and that there is not that much older people living.

Wednesday, October 9, 2013

Today in class we really clarified that we need to start posting to our blogs more often and that we need to be basically posting all our notes on our blog because it is really going to help us later on down the line. We went over how Ann Arbor’s population is made up of a lot of college students and a lot of under grads. Then how like Manhattan is made up of a lot of working class ages that are really focused on their work and are not worried about families.

Tuesday, October 8, 2013

Today in class we took a pop quiz on the lost boys. The quiz was easy for the most part it all mattered if you did your blogs and if you took notes. Then we went on to talk about population pyramids. The pyramids are kind of confusing at first but then when you get the hang of it then it is  pretty easy to understand.

loss boys 2

Today in class we watched more of the video on the lost boys. The segment that we watched today was about them coming over to America the land of the free. The boys well now are men were set up in apartments and had running water and electricity. The boys were never used to just have water right there at the turn of a knob, they were always used to going down the stream and using that water. The boys were also never introduced to some of the electricity like lights. They did not know how turn the lights in the room on and off they were amazed by it. By watching that part I realized how many little things us as Americans take for granted. I think we should stop and realize how great it is to live in a country that has all these things. I was actually more thankful and appreciative after watching part of the movie today.

Today in class we started watching a video about the “Lost Boys” and start to learn the story of three of them. The lost boys were thousands of boys that grew up and lived in Sudan until a civil war broke loose. The north side of the country was Muslims and they came down and wanted to completely get rid of the other race of people in their country. So they did everything in their power to get rid of them and make them leave their country. They took the women of the villages and raped the women. They took the men sixteen and older and just killed them. The boys that were sixteen and under were told to just run. When they would get their hand on them they would scar their face up so they would look horrible. Or they would stabilize their man hood so that the boys could not reproduce.

Today in class we talked a lot about population. We learned that the earth is just growing and growing not in size but in people. I personally think that there are way to many people that there needs to be a period where it all stops so we can take a break and that places do not become over populated.

Friday in class we took our first test. I thought the test was fairly easily, well probably because I studied what i needed to study and i was prepared. I feel I did real strong on the essays which i hoped i did because those were worth the most points and I would rather get a multiple choice wrong then essay. But all in all the test was fairly easy and hope the next tests will be like this.

Today in class we presented are power points of globalization and went over stuff that will be on the test Friday. I think that globalization is good but also I do not like that we are taking jobs away that could be here in America that our fellow citizens could be working rather then someone in another country. I mean come on companies were is your patriotism.

Nike Still Doesn't Do It

Today in class we learned about how Nike was put into real heat because of the how much they pay their workers. So after they were put in this hot heat they do a lot of PR work and try to build up a nicer image but never actually fixing the problem. They now pay their workers a minimum wage of 4 dollars. Which still inst much and they were recently in the news for having their workers at gun point to take lower income.

Nike isn't what it seems to be

Today in class we watched a video about how nike only pays there workers in Indonesia $1.25 a day. I think it's horrible I mean nike is probably one of the biggest countries in the world. But if you look at it from a money stand point instead of a humane standpoint. Then money over rules them. The money is what they care about and if they can get more money and pay less workers then they want to do that.

Today in class we talked about globalization. it was interesting that the biggest money maker in the world is the movie industry. i would have thought it was the oil business or car business. it was funny that everyone in the world wants to see american movies with american actors and mostly american themes.

today in class we learned about Google documents. which i think are very cool. I like that you could be working on something from your house and someone else in their could click on and start work on from where they are. it is a good way to do group projects and not actually have to be in the same room as each other.

In Fridays class we talked about how a week newspaper in today time would be more then a person would learn in their whole entire life back in the 18th century I think it was. That fact just really stands out to me it is showing how great it is to be living in this time that you can just go on your phone and Google something then you have a million pages of what you Googled. I think i am very lucky for this technology.

Three facts that really stuck out to me in the shift happens video were

1. That the U.S. department of Labor estimates that today's learner will have 10-14 jobs.
That really sticks out to me because when it comes when I'm out of college and looking for a job I really don't want to be running from job to job and getting a new job every 4 months I want to get one job and stick wit it.

2. The second fact was the one of England in 1900. I fell that America could be that country, I mean I love our country and am very patriotic but America isn't the greatest country in the world anymore but we can be and we can be the best. We just need the right leadership.

3. The last fact was the 1 out of 6 couples last year married in the U.S. last year met online. That to me is kind of sad because it is saying that us as Americans have to do everything online. It is kind of showing that we are to lazy to go out and meet people I think the best way to meet someone is face to face.

Today we discussed about Socrates and his way of thinking that there was always another question to the answer. He would make you think deeper about things and truly understand. To me Socrates was a mans man he would stand up for what he believed. He was given a chance to apologize to the people but he was just like nah man I'm right your wrong now give me free dinner. Total bro move of him. At his death bed it was like dude give me the drink no big deal. He was just actually pretty bro and awesome.

Today in class we went over are homework from last night which was to find definitions on Greek words. When we were going over our homework, Mr. Schick finally realized that not a lot of people were precipitating in what we were doing. I understanded what the homework was about I mean I did but I put in more to the definition then I really needed.

Thursday, August 29, 2013

Today in class we spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to send an email and how we should have done our homework. We had a lot of trouble on learning how to send the email and when we sent it that we never sent the right thing. So we had to keep going back and doing it over again. Then for the second part of class we spent trying to figure out how to and a web link to our blog for the CIA fact book. So hopefully soon after we get over all this technology we will start having actual class but were still getting used to all this technology.

My experience my first day at John Carroll was fun I meet some new people. I was exposed to some new classes and new teachers with a different style of teaching that I am used to. I wasn't really nervous when it came to the upper class men because I already knew some from the football team. I like the whole idea of off mods so that I could get my homework done before practice, but my first day I only had one off mod and i has to use that for lunch which I only had about 13 minutes by the time I got to the cafeteria. So i really had to rush my lunch period. In all my first day of high school was good it was chill and as I would usually always say it was sweet.
